Ginny’s Capture is outside of my usual reading fare but I wanted to stretch my horizons and see if I could get past my sueamishness over zombiesview spoilerWhat I found is that I didn’t get it I didn’t understand this story I felt like I was dropped right into the middle of the action with characters that had a past history from a previous book that I missed reading And then there was all this planning and staking out surrounding zombies and coffins and I don’t know what else I was completely lost I get that Deidre and Ginny had been previous lovers and are supposed to be mates but other than that I just didn't get it The sex was good but I was so confused by everything else that I just couldn’t enjoy the book so I can only give this book two stars hide spoiler

Ith drugged up zombies everywhere casket sales on the rise and saccharine bubblegum pop music constantly playing in the background Dee decides it's time to lay her heart on the line Because she's the only one who's going to capture GinnyWhen you're fae and your ordained mate is a former mortal lover rescuing her from zombies is the easy pa. Ginny's CaptureThe Good interesting premise character interaction a relationship between 2 people not 2 stereotypesThe Bad too short needs development does not work as a stand alone storyRating 25 starsThere are two main factors I tend to look at when I decide to read something the author and the blurb As I was not familiar with Ellie Heller’s writing my choice was strictly based on the amusing and bizarre premise of the blurb There in lies the problem and solution for Ginny’s Capture I have no problems with short stories; they often leave me wanting when I am done The problem with this one is that it left me wanting at the beginning of the story Without any previous experience with Noble Romance’s Lesbian vs Zombies series it was difficult to navigate and in a way it felt as if I was reading an excerpt from a full length novel Without the blurb I would not have known how to interpret what I was reading until after the main zombie plot conflict was already concluded Ginny’s Capture is definitely a case of a short story needing an introduction or prologue in order for the entry point to make sense Though the blurb is included in the PDF version of this story it or some version of it would have better served the reader as an actual introductionWhat I did like about Ginny’s Capture is that it focused so on the emotional relationship of Deidra and Ginny rather than just the physical Which is why it was so frustrating to feel as though I was being shown a fragment of what could have been As a reader I would have preferred to experience the past conflicts that split them apart rather than being told what happenedOverall had it been longer I believe the story would have had space to develop and mature Would I read something else by the author Only if I knew it was not a short story that was part of a series Based on what I read would I be interested in reading the other parts of this series Yes but only the correct order Would I recommend Ginny’s Capture Not as a stand alone but if someone was interested I would recommend they read the entire series free copy received from author for reader's review

This was my first foray into lesbian literature I have few prudish inhibitions and Ginny’s Capture only proved that real love is rare and should be celebrated regardless of gender Please don’t let 4 stars scare you away from reading this book My reasons for the lack of the 5th star are as follows The length I could have continued reading for much longer The second was the need to fill in the blanks of the series I would highly recommend reading the first books to get a better picture of the Lesbians v Zombies world Lastly I love strong female characters and both Ginny and Dee personify kick ass so I could have used descriptive warrior situationsHeller did a great job of making me like the two women and I wanted them to work out their differences because of how deeply they cared for each other The writing was superb and I give the author kudos for her incursion into this smart new series and the twist to the zombie theme I’m looking forward to by Ms Heller
