The Highlanders Folly Loch Moigh #3Ight only to discover that the knight is a woman and she’s anything but a damsel in distressMeghan McGladrey learned martial arts and sword fighting from her father a time traveling Highlander himself To Hunter’s surprise Meghan is as skilled as any knight When both of them are pulled back to the fifteenth century Meghan becomes desperat. Highlanders Folly gets a big 5 happy Kilts from me I just love a book that hits a bunch of my favorite genre's and this one does little paranormal with the Fea hunky highlanders set in a historical time travel romance I have yet to read the first two books in this series but it in know way affected my enjoyment of the book though the author incorporates Character's from the firs two books she provides just enough backround information to keep the book moving along well and not give away too much about the previous storylines Hunter Of Clan Mackintosh due to his fae blood can sense the intent of other people their feelingsso when traveling home from the continent with his freinds and their hard won fortunes the Romany fair in the middle of nowhere sets his instincts to full alarm Sure enough what he discovers there is his grandam Aine of the tuatha de dannan in her human for of Madame Gisellle seeking a favor whic she guilts him into Hunter finds himself thrust into the future in the middle of a sword fight in which a much smaller defender is being taken advantage of he uickly steps in to defend the smaller person and defeats the opponent grabs up the fallen comrade and runs right back into the past not realizing till he returns that he has grabbed a young women dressed in male garb but also just taken her from her time and apparently a mock battle with her father Conveniently Madame Giselle is gone along with the fair Meghan Magladrey finds herself in the 15 th century with a handsome domineering Scott who just took her from her time and family and she is beyond aggravated and puts her mixed martial arts training to good use ; then demands to be sent home Hunter feels terrible and he wants to send the the lass home to her time but with Giselle gone it is just not going to be easy but he promises her on his honor that he will find Giselle and have her return Megan As these two travel together the attraction for each other only grows stronger Hunter respects her she feisty can defend herself and beautiful and at the same time something about her makes him want to protect and defend herHunter at first finds it surprising that Megan is taking this all as well as she is but it turns out her father was taken from his time and sent to the future so the time travel not a surprise which only ups his respect for her even But Hunter can not allow himself to get to involved to take what he desires has plans and vows to fufill such as marrying his foster sister Sky it is part of the plan He will be a true Mackintosh then not just a fosterling Hunter has security issues as a result of loosing his mother and grandmother a a young age which makes it difficult for him to allow himself to love The interaction between these two characters is wonderful and the storyline created a book that i could not put down Danger love fae and thick headed Highlanders along with great supporting characters serve to add tons of intrest to the plot lineDoes Hunter eventually realize Meghan is perfect for him Does Madame Giselle send her back to the future Does Meghan still want to go back to the future Arc graciously provided by Montlake Romance via Netgalley for an honest review

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in BooksI hate to say that I had a few issues with this book I grabbed this one from NetGalley a few years ago because the premise sounded like something I would enjoy since I usually love time travel stories For some reason I didn't get around to reading it right away but decided to pull it out of my virtual stack a few weeks ago There were some things that I did like about the book but the things that I disliked did hamper my overall enjoyment of the story I enjoyed the time travel aspect of the story I thought that the way Meghan is pulled back in time by Hunter was rather uniue and added a fun twist to the story The influence of the fae on events was also a nice twist that easily made everything impossible uite possible after all The time travel in the story was easily accepted by all of the characters since it has happened before to people that they know and I kind of liked that it was a big secret or something to be disbelievedMy big problem comes in with the characters namely Hunter By the end of the book I kind of wanted him to be sent to a place and time where we wouldn't ever have to see or hear from him again I haven't disliked a lead character uite so much in a very long time He was attracted to Meghan but he still planned pursue another woman that clearly didn't want him He also didn't want any of the other men to have Meghan and wasn't doing a good job of keeping things hands off I guess he was thinking that she should be stuck in his time period without love while he was free to pursue others His stupidity seems to almost increase as the book progresses and by the end of the book he has given her all kinds of mixed messages and doesn't seem to even know what he wantsMeghan wasn't uite as bad but I didn't like how she seemed to fall deeper and deeper for Hunter despite how he treated her There were a couple of other men that were interested in Meghan and treated her very well but she only had eyes for Hunter I did like that Meghan was tough and able to hold her own in a fight but I wish we could have seen her demand that Hunter treat her a whole lot better or move on to one of the other appalling men angling for her attention I have to admit that I spent a lot of the book rooting for the other guy who never had a chance so you know there was just something off about their romanceI thought that Phil Gigante did an acceptable job with the narration I thought that he was easy to listen to but I was not a fan of some of the voices that he used I thought that all of his female voices sounded really off and it tended to pull me out of the story just a bit I think that other readers may enjoy this one than I did It is the third book in a series but I thought it read perfectly fine as a stand alone I do still want to read other books from the series and think I may have luck with those as long as the characters are somewhat likeable I received a digital review copy of this book from Montlake Romance via NetGalley and borrowed a copy of the audiobook from Kindle UnlimitedInitial ThoughtsI wouldn't call myself a fan of this one but I was able to get through the whole book so there is that I pretty much hated the Hero by the end of the book I get that men in this time period did not look at women the same way as we do today but this guy got on my nerves Hunter took Meghan from the present time back to 15th century Scotland They were both attracted to each other and it seemed that some other key players were also hoping that Meghan would choose them Most of the book was Hunter wanting Meghan while pursuing another woman and not wanting anyone else to come near Meghan It was pretty predictable and rather irritating

review The Highlanders Folly (Loch Moigh, #3) ì PDF, eBook or Kindle ePUB free ´ A brave fifteenth century Highlander fiercely devoted to his foster family Hunter of clan MacKintosh can defeat any man in battle Thanks to his fae gifts he can read the intent of his opponents and guess their next moves BuE to return to her time Hunter who is pledged to another begins to fall for the beautiful brave warrior as they fight side by side against a common enemy Now he must decide which matters his honor or following his heartExciting battles and intoxicating passion reunite in the third Novel of Loch Moigh from award winning author Barbara Longley. A fierce Highlander from the fifteenth century a faerie’s plot and a modern day time traveling maiden What’s not to love in that combinationRead on for my thoughts on The Highlander’s Folly No true spoilers promiseThis is the third novel in this series and I was a bit concerned because I have not read the others Sometimes you can jump into a series anywhere and others not so easy There were enough comments about previous stories in the early chapters that I could read Hunter and Meghan’s story without feeling I had jumped into the ending While not a stand alone in my opinion it didn't feel like I was lostWhen a Highlander knight crosses paths with a modern day martial arts instructor – well sparks are going to fly Then add into the mix that Meghan is totally unsurprised by the notion of time travel and you add another level to the storyI enjoyed the richness of details of the times conditions and how life is lived day by day I’m not so sure that Meghan did though It is a major adjustment from taking part in medieval tournaments for fun and actually living them in a life and death situationHunter is a man of his times arrogant most of the time sure that his way is the right way honorable to a fault Even though he has fae blood running through his veins he is none too pleased to have been tricked by Giselle into bringing Meghan back in time to her pastIt was fun deciphering the two languages used Hunter’s local brogue with its meaning and Meghan’s modern day conversation that often baffled Hunter Overall this was a charming sexy enjoyable tale Time travel is always a fascination and the author handled this aspect of the story extremely wellThe only part of this novel I took a bit of exception to was Hunter’s honor where it came into play where Sky and Meghan were involved He knew his intentions toward Sky from the start he had considered himself betrothed to her from the moment of her birth Yet he didn't mention this to Meghan even when he was having conflicting emotions about her He was falling for the maiden from the future but he didn't tell her that he was spoken for That bothered me – perhaps it is simply true to the nature of the “medieval beast” but it put his honor into uestion in my mind Again in my opinion perhaps you will see his actions differentlyI enjoyed this novel very much – enough to go searching for the earlier novels in this particular series That in itself says it was a very good read for meI would recommend this one It was face paced action packed and a passionate love story with a satisfying conclusion
