Lee Stetson ½ The Wild Muir Twenty Two of John Muir's Greatest Adventures ebook

The Wild Muir Twenty Two of John Muir's Greatest AdventuresTop of a tree to death defying falls on Alaskan glaciers the renowned outdoorsman's exploits are related in passages that are by turns exhilarating unnerving dizzying and outrageous I absolutely adored this book The stories were each just a few minutes long making it an especially fun book to pick up and read a story for a uick break to the monotony of my day The illustrations are all just stunning which complimented the stories so well The stories are in chronological order; the first story is of an adventure he had a uite a young age in Scotland and the last tale is actually of his final adventure with an icebergJohn Muir is such a fascinating person This was the first book I read that actually featured his writings and I'm kind of obsessed now There's no one else in history like him nor will there ever be againI loved each and every story of the 22 included but my favorite stories were An Interview With a Bear the encounter is just something so out of place in the modern time of now but it's written so beautifully it lets you almost have the experience for yourself The Rescue on Glenora Peak I love that the author included both Muir's account as rescuer and Reverend Young's account as rescuee It was so thrilling from both accounts I was basically biting my nails in angstAnd The Earthuake just how Muir sees the world is beautiful in itself An event happens like this earthuake and he seeks to understand the effect it has on the world around him as well as how previous natural events have shaped the Yosemite he so loves His drive to understand the natural world like this there's something just so lovely and comforting about thatAfter reading this I immediately purchased a couple of John Muir's books and can't wait to dive in This was the perfect starter book into the world of John Muir
