Nowhere Girls Friends Alba and Sara could not be different While Alba is forcing her way into the upper echelons of Albanian’s richest and most powerful Sara is working than one job as a struggling journalist Both desperate to escape their corrupt country they're uickly dragged into a sordid world of I'm pretty biased since I love literary fiction or fiction that focuses on character development; and for the most part the characters drove a compelling plot that had me excited to read every night I also haven't met many Albanians or heard much about Albania so it was interesting? to learn something new about the wide scale corruption similar to most other ethnically homogeneous countries The book also made me sympathetic to the ordeal of asylum seeking and immigration The University of Intelligence kinda made it a thriller for me or somewhat dystopian as well Overall a decent read The content could stand to be edited a bit though as there were several typoserrors throughout that included verb subject agreement and misspellings The story also became unrealistic for me at the second half when Sara traveled to retrieve Johan I understand the concept of family but this part just seemed unbelievable to me or reuired a suspension of my belief that I just couldn't suspend Spoiler All that Sara goes through so suddenly just to retrieve the son of a woman especially not related to her? Maybe this concept doesn't translate as well across cultures? Makes me think of the Iranian movie About Elly The pacing also seemed rushedPS The Look Inside feature of hooked me

Teuta Metra ☆ Nowhere Girls book

Woman will go to for freedom“This novel speaks elouently to the lives of contemporary Albanian women There is compassion with the truth but at the same time the truth is unvarnished of how people navigate through a modern society that seems made to devour them alive“ Bronwyn Jones writ Nowhere Girls is a tale of three Albanian women each a strong character trying to do her best with the cards that were given to her The reader gets to relive the heroines' experiences through their thoughts and the genuine dialogues leading to a feeling of immersing into the characters page by page The book moves just at the right pace and is very absorbing One third into the book I was fully hooked and didn't want to let it go before I had finished it which is always a good signI would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to experience and feel the strength of the female nature and the struggles and sacrifices women take as well as the joys and ups of human life
